George Clarke is founder and CEO of Chicago-based UMF Corporation, innovator and specialists in environmental hygiene. For more than 10 years, Clarke has been an aggressive advocate of raising standards in the battle to reduce healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). Leading hotels turned to UMF to develop an ergonomically sound, sustainable Guest Room cleaning process that would significantly improve cleanliness, increase productivity while reducing the reliance on and number of chemicals used. Clarke co-developed the ABC’s of Housekeeping, a PerfectCLEAN® sustainable color-coded solution that has proven very effective at increasing Guest Satisfaction scores and providing a safer more hygienic Guest environment all while decreasing costs, in partnership with a leading hotel company. Additionally, this proven program has improved staff morale and productivity and decreased staff downtime in the healthcare, pharmaceutical, hospitality, education and commercial cleaning industries.
Clarke holds more than 30 patents both issued and pending, including those for his line of high performance micro-denier textiles under the brand names PerfectCLEAN and Micrillon®. For clients, his PerfectCLEAN Environmental Hygiene System, which comprises high-performance products and environmental process specialty training, has been simultaneously instrumental in reducing rates of infection while raising patient HCAHPS scores.
UMF Corporation was awarded the Sodexo 2017 Innovation Vendor Partner Award for FacilitiesManagement for the diligent work to design innovative and differentiated solutions that save time for their operators resulting in reduced waste, environmental impact, and cost. He collaborates with Sodexo to share new innovations and offer their expertise to help solve challenges, and provides invaluable support, guidance and assists in the development of a strong foundation in hygienic-cleaning methods. The partnership with Sodexo has been extremely successful.
